Rommy Monroe and Ayana Brooks are two souls bound by a care as magnetic as it is destructive. Rommy, charismatic and dangerously captivating, hides deep scars beneath his charm, offering care with an intensity that blurs tenderness and control. Ayana, a dedicated advocate for trauma survivors, masks her private fragility behind a polished exterior, clinging to the affection she was starved of as a child. Together, they ignite a push-and-pull connection that is as beautiful as it is volatile — a connection teetering between salvation and self-destruction, where every touch could heal them… or break them beyond repair.
Meet Ayana Brooks — a fierce advocate for trauma survivors through her work at a non-profit, yet in private she is an emotionally fragile and obsessive lover, aching for the love she was denied as a child, confusing toxic intensity for true connection. Raised in privilege but starved of her parents’ presence, she learned to wear composure like armor, masking her inner chaos behind a flawless, polished exterior.
Her connection with Rommy Monroe is both intoxicating and destructive — messy yet magnetic, a dance of passion and pain. What feels like care is often a mirror of their wounds, drawing them in to a connection walking the razor’s edge between saving each other and breaking each other. Is it real, or simply their traumas finding a home in one another?

Meet Rommy Monroe — the charismatic yet controlling layered lover whose charm can disarm anyone, but whose love burns hot enough to scar. On the surface, he’s magnetic, playful, and impossible to ignore; underneath, he’s a man shaped by his own wounds, using power and passion as both a shield and a weapon. His connection to Ayana Brooks has an fierce, all-consuming intensity, pulling her into a relentless push-and-pull — a trauma bond rooted in desire, danger, and an intoxicating sense of belonging neither of them can let go.

MTW had a huge success of filming the intense pilot during a day 4 film schedule during August in North Texas. MTW is amazed at the crew, and cast. Every single member was reliable, had fantastic attitudes and worked hard to bring this story to life. We also enjoyed each others companionship and bonded with like-minded creatives. These positive memories will forever live with us.
The cast and crew started strong on Film Day 1 filming the most emotional intense scenes first in McKinney, Texas. The range that was required from Faith McKinstry and MT Washington was enormous, and they DELIVERED!
Kadija Pusey played her role as "Kelsey Monroe" a bit too well. This performance will ignite many emotions in the audience. Thank you Kadija for your talent and reliability, and also opening up your home to host Film Day 4 in your home.
Allen Simpson stepped in as Director and DP and kept the story on schedule while MT Washington focused on his performance.
JoLynn Singh, MT's classmate at The Performer's Edge Dallas served gracefully as Craft and Slate PA, as well as opened her home up for the creative group to film in. We are forever grateful for her contribution.
Our sound team was amazing. The professionalism and attention to detail from Sound Mixer Elly Gallo is sure to elevate this story. Thank you so much Cole Harvey for doing such a great job at boom!
Our Action Angels assisted this production and helped everything flow so smoothly! Thank you, Nekki Williams, Darryl White Sr and Maria Reyes-Hill for your flexibility, hard work and dedication!
Thank you to our amazing photographer, Keith Tanner, who captured all our behind the vision photos and cast photo shoots! Your loyalty and dedication do not go unnoticed.
This first day, MTW made history. This was the first day of filming our Debut television show. It was full of love, kindness and elevation. We are here and we are excited to show the world what we have.
Film day 2 was a huge success. MT Washington and Faith McKinstry delivered outstanding performances. Supporting actor Judah Singh made his debut performance in television as "Marcus Gold", which MTW is extremely proud of. He did excellent! Each crew member killed it, especially director Deshawn Davis and Director of Photography Allen Simpson.
Excellent work to the crew Elly Gallo, Cole Harvey, Maria Reyes-Hill, Jo Lynn Singh, Nekki Williams, Darryl White Sr, Conner Merrifield, and our awesome photographer Keith Tanner.
Film Day 3 was a huge success, but not without obstacles. This shoot day tested the cast and crew as we worked through unexpected events during production. This strengthened the group and showed us what we are made of. In the end, we won. MT Washington, Faith McKinstry and Jo Lynn Singh delivered excellent performances!
Thank you director Deshawn Davis and Director of Photography Allen Simpson for your reliability and professionalism.
Thank you to the Almost Us crew Elly Gallo, Cole Harvey, Nekki Williams, Darryl White Sr. and our awesome photographer Keith Tanner!
Film Day four was more than an huge success. By this time, the cast has built chemistry and the crew has as well. The vibes were high during our lunch as we enjoyed MTW's first Taco and Nacho bar, as well as filmed indoors and outdoors. This was an amazing day. This wrapped the Pilot of Almost Us. It is a surreal feeling. To start, then finish something with so many positive relationships and memories formed. Again, we made history with this one.
On behalf of MTW Talent Group, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who gave their time, talent, and energy to bring Almost Us to life. This project wouldn’t have been possible without each of you.
